Patrick Geddes Centre Opens

patrick geddes

8th September 2017

Today sees the official opening of the Patrick Geddes Centre at Riddles Court, Edinburgh. We have been involved with the project since 2013, working with the team at the Scottish Historic Buildings Trust and LDN Architects to take the interpretation from HLF funding right through to delivery on site. The 16th Century building has been painstakingly conserved and transformed into a place for community, conferences and events.

Senior Designer, James Simpson, was there to see the centre being officially opened by Prince Charles.

More details of the project, including details of our interpretive proposals and the film created to capture the conservation process will be on our website shortly.

Launch of Flows Touring Exhibition at The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

Flows TouringNews

15th June 2017

We were delighted to have been at the launch event for the The Flow Country Touring Exhibition at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh last night.

Bright have been working with The Peatlands Partnership for some time designing and installing interior and exterior interpretation at The Flow Country in Caithness and Sutherland; introducing and connecting visitors with all that the Flow Country has to offer, the wildlife it supports and the people who live and work there. Importantly, it is also engaging visitors with the restoration of the blanket bog.

It is a very remote site and to introduce audiences who cannot visit the area we have been working with the project team to create 'The Flow Country Touring Exhibition'. which will visit venues across the UK over the next couple of years. The exhibition has been designed so that it can be easily moved from location to location, and into different sized venues without impacting on the story.

The exhibition opens to the general public tomorrow before going on tour in September 2017.

A full case study will be published on the website soon in the meantime, click here for the press release with more information about the project

Scotch Whisky Experience wins Distillery Experience Award

SWE DistilleryExpAward

We are delighted to discover that The Scotch Whisky Shop has won the title of Best Retail Experience at the Distillery Experience Awards.

Run by Drinks International Magazine, the Awards recognise innovation and excellence among distilleries and associated businesses. The Scotch Whisky Experience’s shop – which we underwent a major £1m renovation three years ago – was recognised for its informative and accessible layout, the quantity and variety of stock, and the educational experience shoppers receive in-store from both interactive displays and staff. The judges also acknowledged the care taken to ensure new customers understand the product offering and buy something they or their loved one will enjoy.

Susan Morrison, director and general manager, said: “Buying whisky can often be a daunting task but we have worked hard in recent years to make it an informative and fun experience, so it’s great to have these efforts recognised at the Distillery Experience Awards. Our superb range of stock has also made us a one-stop shop for whisky lovers from across the city and beyond, and we’re proud that this is something the judges picked up on.”

The Isle of Harris Distillery Opening

Isle of Harris Distillery Work Grid

The opening of the Isle of Harris Distillery today is the culmination of a vision. A vision which sees the creation of a distillery to celebrate the people and the beauty of Harris. The quiet confidence and understated elegance of the place draws on the lifestyle and traditions of The Hearach. James and Lisa are there to celebrate the completion of the project.

We wish the team the best of luck with today's opening.

The story of the design development can be found here, or at The Isle of Harris Distillery Website. Following the opening we will update our Case Study with some photographs of the project.
